WHY DID I WASTE SO MUCH TIME
Took me so long to get here
A false startin’ lover for years
Just couldn’t find the right gears ( in last verse.. "just couldn’t shake all my fears")
REFRAIN: Why did I waste so much time…movin’ in circles of rhyme…
Committin’ the same petty crime….why did I waste so much time?
Maybe I lacked the right dream…without discipline, I careened.
Always startin’ over , it seemed…Why did I waste so much time?
Like I was lost in a fog….repeatin’ the same silly blog
Again and again I’d get bogged
Made me feel like a dog
And you know you’d have to be blind..to repeat this so many times
Why did I waste so much time? Why did I waste so much time?
Found my dream lover one night….
Finally I got it just right….broke out of that spiralin’ plight
But why did I Waste so much time? Why did I waste so much time?
(repeat 1st verse and Refrain)

THEY JUST KEEP BELIEVIN' IN THE LIES
He don’t care what they say….he’s gonna go on and do it anyway
He don’t care what we might do..he’s gonna keep a- wreckin’ it like a tire that blew.
You might think that he’s just a- jokin’…but he’s gonna go ahead and divide us, till it’s all broken .
CHORUS
Cause they’ll just keep believing him …like he’s Jesus.. they just keep
on believing him no matter what he say
He’s like a rooster crowing…in the brain..telling them to go out
in the rain.
while all the progress that we’ve made…..goes right down the drain
He can just keep on telling lies…but you won’t find anyone who is
is surprised
They just dress up his stories in a senseless, harebrained disguise..
CHORUS…
They don’t care what he sez…gotta be right cause he was the Prez
They don’t care what he do… even if they look like fuckin' fools
They don’t care who we tell ..they just want us all to go straight
to hell
CHORUS
Cause they just keep on believing him..believin' in the lies…they keep
on believing him no matter what he shows.

Genuflectin' Blues

GENUFLECTIN' BLUES
You walk into the room
you hear that woman yell
sometimes this life can be a living hell
you'll do anything just to shut her up
but she's got you on you knees
like a whining' pup...oh no
oh no , I think my knees are scraping the floor
I've got them...Genuflectin' blues!
Seems like every time I turn around
some self-righteous person is putting' me down
tellin' me...i'm livin' in sin
give that guy another swig of gin...oh no
oh no..think my knees are scraping' the floor
I got those genuflectin' blues!
It doesn't matter now
cause either's the same
you to work or you stay at home
lots of crazy people bitchin' at me
they're just about driving me.....insane
I got those...Genuflectin' blues!
You walk into the room
you hear that woman yell
sometimes this life can be a living hell
you'll do anything to shut her up
but she's got me on my knees
like a whining' pup...oh no
oh no, I think my knees are scraping' the floor
I've got those Genuflectin' blues!

All Along The Watchtower

ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER
“There must be someway out of here”...
Said the Joker to the Thief.
“There’s too much confusion, I can’t get me no relief.
Businessmen drink my wine...plowmen dig my earth.
None of them along the line, know what any of it is worth.
“No reason to get excited”
The thief, he kindly spoke.
“There are many here among us...
Who feel that life is but a joke.”
“BUT you and I, we’ve been through that...
and this is not our fate.
So let us not talk falsely now...he hour is getting late.”
All along the watchtower...princess kept the view.
While all the women came and they went....
barefoot servants too
OUTSIDE IN THE DISTANCE...A WILD CAT DID GROWL
TWO RIDERS WERE APPROACHING......
AND THE WIND BEGAN TO HOWL........

BLUES SHADOW
There's been a blues shadow...followin' me
There's been a blue..blues shadow following' me
for most of the days of my life
With no real reason to be blue
with no real reason to be blue
except this blues shadow
this blues shadow...hangin' round me
It's not that I am miserable or forlorn
it's just this blues shadow...hangin' round me
A melancholy shadow turning' blue to brown
a melancholy shadow so comfortable
like an old, old friend
These's a blue blues shadow following' me
hangin' on my soul.

WHY CAN'T I SAY WHAT'S ON MY MIND?
Your letters from Sonoma ..back to Oklahoma
tell me…..there might be time
I’m sittin’ on the edge here….the edge of confusion
why can’t i say what’s on my mind?
You know i would walk there…from here to California
if i thought you’d change your mind
but you only call me when you need me
the rest of the time, it’s like i died
and you always push me…where you don’t want me
and then i always (you know) i run and hide
I’m sittin’ on the edge here….the edge of confusion
why can’t i say what’s on my mind?
Your letters from Sonoma….back to Oklahoma
tell me…there might be time
I’m sittin’ on the edge here…the edge of confusion
why can’t i say what’s on my mind?
Why can’t i say what’s on my mind?

Back To Salinas
06:14
|

Back To Salinas ...(selected verses 3-6)
TO SEE HER AGAIN …..…JUST TEARS ME APART
WHEN WE MEET THERE’S A KIND OF A STRAIN
BUT THE CALL OF HER WORK ..AND THE SAME BROKEN HEART
WILL TAKE HER BACK TO SALINAS AGAIN
SOON I’LL PASS BY SALINAS…..ON THE WAY GOIN’ NORTH
I’LL SEE THE TREES AND THE MEDOWS SO GREEN
BESIDE ME THE MAN TO WHOM …THE HEART DOES GO FORTH
FROM THE LADY WITH THE SAD GOLDEN DREAM
NOT A DAY DOES GO BY……I DON’T WONDER INSIDE
HOW OFTEN HIS HEART HEARS HER NAME
AND IS THERE A YEARNING……THAT HE NEEDS TO HIDE
TO GO BACK TO SALINAS AGAIN TO GO BACK TO SALINAS…AGAIN
TO GO BACK TO SALINAS…AGAIN

WINDY WEATHER
Wind on an ocean....take me
Wind on the desert....wake me
Storm in the valley...break me
Wind on the water....make me go
to places we've not been
alone together...we could begin
to find a secret lost within
you and me
Windy weather...blow my soul
Windy weather...blow my soul
oh..ah..oh..wo...windy weather
Windy weather ...blow my soul
oh..ah..oh oh....windy weather

PERPETUAL DILEMMA

PERPETULA DILEMMA
Lately I've been wondering' what to do with my life
lately I've been pondering' on what is wrong and what is right
You gotta make some money in this old word to survive,
I'd rather make some music
try and keep my head and heart..alive
La -la-lala...la-la lala Oh lay
La-la lala...la-la lala Oh Lay
Would you like to go to Mexico...today?
We could laugh and run and sing and dance
our cares away....La-la La Lala..la-la La... Oh... lay
Lately I've wonderin'
what is wrong and what is right
Lately I've pondering'
what to do with my life.
If I were to sing you a lullaby..tonight
would it make you happy
or...would it make you uptight?
Can you answer me...that?

THE BALLAD OF KATHLEEN MAVOUREEN DILLON
Kathleen- Mavourneen...sprung-up from Irish Blood!
Kathleen-Mavourneen.....raised on the hog-corn plains of Nebraskee!
Folks died when she was young, young Her mother died of meningitis so they burned their things with the family Bible….’cause they were contagious
They scattered all the kids to kin in different cities
they sent her off to a farm near Beatrice Nebraskee….
Kathleen-Mavourneen....mistreated little waif
til she was jus sixteen.
Left for the City to find her way...
Couldn’t stand it for another day...
Then she got a helping hand from Dr Arlinski
Got her into school in Kansas City
Kathleen-Mavourneen...finished nursing school in 1918.......
The year of the Plague-flu
Tested by fire, she was tried and true She was on her knees scrubbin’ the Hospital floor…when she heard her brother had been killed in the War
Scorched by rain and hail
They said she had the blood of Florence Nightingale.
Kathleen-Mavourneen.... was an auburn-haired Irish pearl
...defined the 20th century American girl.
Spent her nights tending to those at heaven’s gate
Spent her days buyin’ and sellin’ real estate
Kathleen Mavourneen...living on the run she was a gambler It took a calm and steady man to handle ‘er
He met her after the great war When she was tendin’ him in hospital ward
Kathleen Mavourneen..He said, “You’re the one for me” But you know, she resisted..and then he insisted ... that Edwin Dick, He was persistent.
He got a job as hog buyer for Wilson & CO
Rode the trains all over the damn country
buyin farmer’s hogs for the cities
bringin’ home the bacon for their family
Kathleen Mavourneen...Even though some times were lean
along come little baby Josephine
One year they bought and lived in 19 homes we’re livin’like gypsies her daughter moaned
She’d buy-um... fix-um up in a kind of gamble
Then she’s sell-um & buy another... in one big scramble
Kathleen Mavoureen…. sprung up from Irish Blood.
Said she wanted to live to be 100
by the time she turned 97 she’d married and burried 3 husbands…. . She broke her leg one day...runnin' for the telephone.
That landed her in a nursing home
After a while she said.."This ain't living'!
This just ain't living'!!
Kathleen Mavourneen
Oh..Kathleen Mavourneen died just shy of 100
Kathleen Mavourneen...Kathleen Mavourneen
Sprung up from Irish blood!

THE BLUE CANADIAN ROCKIES
In the blue Canadian Rockies
Spring is silent through the trees
And the golden poppies are blooming
'Round the banks of Lake Louise
Now, oh, how my lonely heart is aching tonight
For that girl I left behind
And, oh, what I'd give if I could be there tonight
With the sweetheart who's waitin' for me
In the blue Canadian Rockies
Spring is silent through the trees
And the golden poppies are blooming
'Round the banks of Lake Louise
Across the sea they call me
And on and on a love so true
For the blue canadian rockies
And the one I love to see
