1st Verse Somewhere deep inside of me I watch through a soldier's eyes a walking' talking' patriotic man who's primed to fight believing in posterity that one day war would set us free walkin' talking' patriotic man inside of me... I take the hand of freedom. I shove it down my pants, to formulate and stimulate, the power of the lance. I revel in the rivalries, with a people that want me to not be free, The walking, talking, patriotic, fools across the sea. I long to watch the mothers yearn, to watch their eyes grow cold, to clutch their aprons and stay behind because the story must be told, to pass along the heritage of a people who tried their best to be, the walking, talking, patriotic mass that must be free.

Like a warm bed, I stand ready to be used. This warm and safe place waits for you. So, turn me down, cuddle in, to my truth. I know that you grow weary, eyes too tired to see. That's when you'll find, I’ve got everything that you might need. Soft lights and satin, the time to dream, the perfect pillow, swallows all your screams. Lay down. Lay down. Come to me, run to me, lay down. Like a warm bed, I will hold you through the night. I’ll be your haven in the fight. So, turn me down, cuddle in, tuck in tight When your eyes grow heavy and you're searching for some peace. I’ll be here waiting for you with everything that you might need. Comfort and silence, in quilted creams. The perfect pillow, cradles all your dreams. Lay down. Lay down. Come to me, run to me, lay down.

I DIDN'T SEE IT COMING, BUT IT HIT ME JUST THE SAME. NO TIME FOR RUNNING. NO TIME TO CHANGE MY NAME. I NEVER THOUGHT THAT MY LOVE FOR YOU, COULD BE SOMETHING I WOULD BLAME. BUT NEVER MIND ABOUT THE THINGS I THINK. THEY DON'T MATTER ANYWAY. I DIDN'T SEE IT COMING, 'CAUSE I DIDN'T THINK IT THROUGH. BUT WHO'D OF EVER THOUGHT THAT I WOULD EVER LOOSE MY LOVE FOR YOU. IT WASN'T SOMETHING THAT I WANTED. WASN'T WHAT I MEANT FOR YOU. BUT NEVER MIND ABOUT THE THINGS I WANT. THEY ONLY MATTER IF THEY'RE TRUE. ALL THESE THINGS HAPPEN IN THE PLAN... YOU MAKE YOUR MOVE THEN TAKE YOUR STANDS. WHILE ALONG, IN FATES CRUEL HAND, YOU ONLY HOPE TO UNDERSTAND.

Legacy 04:48
I was born and bred to hurt and then taught it very young the vessel and the legacy presented as a son. Well I was tortured with old agonies and fondled with distrust I stoped to love with a broken heart and just a token of disgust

DOESN'T MATTER WHO YOU ARE. DOESN’T MATTER WHO YOU KNOW. DOESN’T MATTER IF THEY BENT THE RULES, JUST FOR YOU, JUST TO EASE YOUR LOAD. IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU. IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU, ANYWAY. IT DOESN’T MATTER WHERE YOU STAND. IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT YOU PLAN. IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU TRY TO RUN, OR HOLD YOUR GROUND AND TAKE YOUR STAND. IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU. IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU, ANYWAY. (CHORUS) IT DON’T MATTER WHAT YOU DO OR SAY. IT’S GOING TO FOLLOW YOU AND KETCH UP SOME DAY. IT DON’T MATTER IF YOU LOCK THE DOOR. IT’S GOING TO SPRING UP AT YOU FROM EVERY FLOOR, AND THEN IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU. IT DON’T MATTER WHATS AT STAKE. IT DON’T MATTER WHAT PILLS YOU TAKE. IT DON’T MATTER IF THEY HELP YOU DREAM, OR JUST KEEP YOU UP AWAKE. IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU. IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU, ANYWAY. IT DON’T MATTER WHAT TOOLS YOU TOTE. IT DON’T MATTER WHAT YOU BUILT OR WROTE. IT DON’T MATTER IF THEY’VE COME TO HEAR YOUR TRUTH, OR JUST COME OUT TO SEE THE JOKE. IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU. IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU, ANYWAY. (CHORUS) IT DON’T MATTER WHAT YOU DO OR SAY. IT’S GOING TO FOLLOW YOU AND THEN CATCH UP SOMEDAY. IT DON’T MATTER IF YOU PLEAD SOME MORE. IT’S GOING TO FIND YOU BEHIND EVERY DOOR, AND THEN IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU. IT DON’T MATTER WHAT YOU DO. IT DON’T MATTER WHAT YOU SAY. IT DON’T MATTER IF THE SUN COMES AGAIN, AND THERE’S ANOTHER DAY. IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU. IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU, ANYWAY. IT DON’T MATTER HOW WISE YOU SPOKE. IT DON’T MATTER WHAT RULES YOU BROKE. IT DON’T MATTER IF THEY HANG YOU NOW, OR JUST SIT BACK AND WAIT FOR YOU TO CHOKE. IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU. IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU, ANYWAY. (CHORUS) IT DON’T MATTER WHAT YOU DO OR SAY. IT’S GOING TO FOLLOW YOU AND THEN CATCH UP SOME DAY. IT DON’T MATTER IF YOU PLEAD SOME MORE. IT’S GOING TO SPRING UP AT YOU FROM EVERY FLOOR, AND THEN IT’S GOING TO FALL ON YOU.

I’ve been riding around on a one legged pony, pretending I was riding down to Brazil, in a long standing dream of crossing the border, in a test of my strength and my will. There would be long lonely nights out under the stars, watching the moonlight try not to hide and dreams about a brown legged lady who was waiting for me to arrive. It's all just a dream for all that we know. It's just a fantastical roam. if I never find time for exploring the world, there's still so much adventure at home. I’ve been riding around in long lazy circles watching the mountains come and go, singing my songs of my loves and my futures and things I might never know. The sun would be bright and hard on my shoulders, riding my pony through dust and through sand. I’d be thinking about that brown legged lady who was waiting to take my hand. I’ve been riding around on a one legged pony pretending I was riding down to Brazil, and riding straight up to that brown legged lady who was waiting up over the hill.

Desperation 06:04
Desperation put me back out on the road again, To look for love to take me home. Desperation put me back out on the road again, I did not want to go. I live up on the hill. I've got a fancy house, and fancy car. I thought that would be everything she'd need. I bought her jewels, and precious things, to weight her down. I never dreamed that she would leave. Desperation put her back out on the road again, to look for love to take her home. Desperation put her back out on the road again, I know she did not want to... She did not want to… She did not want to go. She said that diamonds are only hard cold stones... You've got to keep a little something left to burn. And that big old house will not save you from the cold, when you find it is your turn. And Desperation puts you back out on the road again, To look for love to take you home. Desperation puts you back out on the road again. And you will not want to… You will not want to... You will not want to go.

The seasons break. I lose my conceptions. I thought that summer would last all year long. I didn't think. I didn't plan for the future. Now, I can see just where I went wrong. You left me here so cold, with a mass of frozen dreams. And the place I long to be is a thousand miles down south of me. And now, the cold rushes in on me. I didn't move. I didn't take the precautions. I didn't keep a little on the side just for luck. Now, the cold's creeping in all around me. I can see just how bad I'm stuck. I didn't think that you could do it, take my loving all in fun. But, I hear that your real happy, down south playing in the sun. While the cold rushes in on me. My windows broken and I'm seeing all too clear. There's a cloud bank moving up on the rear. Now, the colds blowing in, straight through my bones. I can see that I'm all alone. I didn't think that you could do it, take my loving on the run. I hear that you still have it with you, down south, baking in the sun. While the cold rushes in on me.

Lately I've been wondering' what to do with my life lately I've been pondering' on what is wrong and what is right You gotta make some money in this old world ...to survive. but I rather make some music try and keep my head and heart alive. Would you like to go woah oh oh to Mexico....today? We could laugh and run and sing and dance our cares away... La la. la lalala...la la lala la oh lay La la la lalala..la la lala la oh lay (trill) yeah -yeah yeah yeah yeah Would you like to go to Mexico...wouldY ou like to go? Lately I've been wondering' what is wrong and what is right Lately I've been pondering' what to do with my life If I were to sing you a lullaby tonight would it make you happy? Or would it make you...uptight? Can you answer me...that?

about

Loosebrix was a band that featured the original songs of Ray Rodgers and Ralph Bendel from 1994 to 2018. Over the years several other musicians were members of this group for periods of time. It was primarily a performance band and all the tracks on this album are either from live performances or recorded in rehearsal; and in both situations, captured on two-track cassette tape, until after 2004 when Digital tape was used. Loosebrix was the "house band" for a program of the Tulsa Artist's Coalition, called "The Uptown Underground" (a coffeehouse program presented twice a week at two different locations in Tulsa Oklahoma). The recordings were from performances at these programs at "Manion Studio";"The Eclipse"; "The Dock" and "The Gold Coast"; and from rehearsals at 3 rehearsal spaces (Studios: Crabapple Cove, Kenosha Street and Magnolia); The recordings on this album, Volume 1, span the earliest years of the bands 24 year history, roughly 1994 through 2000.
